Our Story: A Journey of Love and Impact

Green Pasture and Home Initiative (GPHI) began its journey on March 15, 2001, with a heartfelt vision to create a world where every child enjoys the kind of childhood that God intends, regardless of their background or birth circumstances. What started as a response to the pain and suffering of vulnerable children has grown into a beacon of hope for thousands across Nigeria.

From our first day, GPHI made a bold step by opening children’s homes in Kano State and Akure, Ondo State. These homes have provided safety, shelter, and a new beginning for over 200 children, many of whom have gone on to complete university education, while others are thriving in various stages of their schooling journey.

Understanding that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty, GPHI established a nursery and primary school, which operated for 12 years, reaching over 500 children from the home and surrounding community. In 2021, we began expanding this school into a modern educational facility to serve even more children, a project now 75% complete, a testament to the generous support of individuals and corporate partners.

Beyond shelter and education, GPHI has reached over 50,000 children and families through life-changing projects funded by USAID, including the STEER Project (2014–2018) in partnership with Save the Children International, and the ICHSSA 3 Project (2019–2024) with Society for Family Health. These projects have delivered comprehensive services in health, nutrition, psychosocial support, education, and household economic strengthening.

Our commitment to vulnerable populations extends further:

  • We built a well-equipped shelter for victims of trafficking,
  • Serve over 1,000 elderly people annually through our Aged People Project, and,
  • Support communities through Malaria, TB, and COVID-19 interventions.

Over the years, GPHI’s unwavering dedication has earned recognition and awards, including the Award of Excellence from ACHIEVE and the Indigene Certificate awarded to our Executive Director by the Kano State Emirate Council.

GPHI continues to be led by a team governed by a Board of Trustees, men and women of integrity who are passionate about justice and child protection. Our work is powered by dedicated Directors, Managers, Program Officers, Staff, and Volunteers, all committed to transforming lives.

For 24 years and counting, GPHI remains a family, a refuge, and a force for good. With every child we help, every family we lift, and every soul we touch, we are reminded that the mission is not over and together, we can do even more. With your continued support, GPHI will keep creating safe spaces, quality education, and opportunities for vulnerable children and families.

Our story is still being written and you are part of it.

“Together, we can give more children the gift of a joyful, meaningful life.”
